confirmation1.jpg
On Friday the 15th of April  we will celebrate our Confirmation Day in the Holy Family Church at 11am. The mass will be celebrated by Bishop William Lee, assisted by Father Tom Rogers P.P. There will be 88 children confirmed: 79 children from Our Lady of Mercy Senior School, 8 children from Educate Together and 1 child from the Ursuline Convent. Our Lady of Mercy Senior School choir will accompany the Holy Family Church choir.

Bishops Message

My dear young friends,

This is an important day in your young lives. On your confirmation day the holy spirit comes to you in a special way to help you in the life that lies ahead. Today you are especially called to give witness to Christian values in your future lives. The sacrement of confirmation will help you to be strong in your beliefs.

As you celebrate confirmation today and you look to the future, keep prayer at the centre of your lives. Prayer is talking to Jesus about your worries, your fears, your achievments, your failures, your successes. It is talking to the Lord as you would your best friend.

I ask you, too, to make attendance at mass central to each weekend of your life. As you grow older, it is my prayer that you would never forget the kindness shown by your parents, teachers and neighbours. May God bless you and may the strength and guidance of the Holy Spirit, which we celebrate today, help you on lifes journey.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

William Lee.

Bishop of Waterford and Lismore.

Let us not look for you only in memory

Where we would grow lonely without you.

You would want us to find you in presence,

Beside us when beauty brightens,

When kindness glow,

And music echoes eternal tones.

When orchids brighten the earth,

Darkest Winter has returned to Spring;

May this dark grief flower with hope

In every heart that loves you.

A thought before beginning:

LIFEmp9004485881.jpg

Look to this day,

For it is life,

The very life of life.

In its brief course lies all

The realities and verities of existence,

The bliss of growth, the splendor of action,

the glory of power.

For yesterday is but a dream,

And tomorrow is only a vision.

But today, well lived,

Make every yesterday a dream of happiness

And every tomorrow a vision of hope.

Look well, therefore, to this day.

Mercy Primary School Saving Scheme

The Parents Association at the Mercy Primary School is pleased to announce a saving scheme created to help parents manage the various costs that arise during the school year.  A spokesperson from the Parents Assocation explained, “While books are covered under the medical card scheme, other costs such as art supplies, photocopying, swimming, school tours, etc. are not.  Some of these costs can be in the region of €40.  This may not seem like a huge amount, but if you have more than one child in the school, these costs can add up quickly and it can be difficult to come up with all at once”.

The savings scheme is basically a ‘diddly’, where parents can put aside a bit of money each week.  Any parent who wishes to participate opens an account with us.  We keep a log of how much has been deposited and the parent is given a reciept. The parent can deposit or withdraw as much or as little as they like, as frequently as the like, and it can be accessed at any time.

This is a great way to put a little aside every week / fortnight to defray costs of books , uniforms etc for next year. the savings club will be open every Tuesday morning, 8.30a.m. - 9.15a.m. in the school library. Everybody is welcome, so why not join our SAVINGS SCHEME today.
